Outdoor Horse Pasture Wireless Site Survey
C3-Wireless, LLC, a consulting service specializing in mission-critical wireless networking services, completed a wireless site survey and redesign for one of the largest horse breeder auction houses in north-central Florida.
After numerous complaints by its customers that Internet and network connectivity was inconsistent, C3-Wireless was brought in to troubleshoot and redesign their wireless network. Fast resolution was critical because a large auction was about to take place.
Due to the construction materials and layout of the facilities, providing complete coverage in the stalls and outlying areas was problematic. However, C3-Wireless was able to overcome the environmental challenges by modeling out the facilities and temporarily installing a combination of sector array and omni-directional antennas to complete a preinstallation site survey. Based upon that, they were able to make the recommendations needed to provide a reliable wireless network.

Because wireless networks operate in unlicensed frequencies, potential interference from numerous devices such as microwaves, cordless phones, Bluetooth devices, video cameras, etc. can have a significant negative impact. Our surveys start with temporarily mounting the same access points and antennas that will be permanently installed. We then use professional-grade software to test not only for signal strength, but Signal-to-Noise ratio (SNR) to test the signal's viability, interference and data rates.
